It’s a bit off-brand for me to be writing a book, or writing at all.

The impetus to write this book came from above. I felt compelled, almost summoned to write. A decision that changed the course of my life. Like a song can save your life, a book can alter it, and a dog can transform it. Makai changed me.

For fifteen and a half remarkable years, I had the honor of sharing a life with Makai, a golden retriever whose presence was and is a beacon of joy, wisdom, and unconditional love. This book is my humble attempt to capture the essence of gifts and guidance I received from Makai, who enlightened me with his patience, loyalty, and the purest form of giving.

I bring 25 years of experience in the pet industry to this work, including certification as a Veterinary Technician, a BS in Biology and Animal Behavior, and a Master of Science in Functional Medicine-based Nutrition. I founded Enroot Wellness, a company specializing in functional nutrition for people and pets, and previously served as Director of Sales & Education for a pioneering pet food company of human-grade and dehydrated pet food.

This book serves as a reference guide for all things Dog; nutrition how-to, dispelling myths in the pet food industry, building more awareness in you and trust between you and your dog, and how to navigate end-of-life conversations and considerations.

Honor that Dog has become a mantra for giving back in the way our dogs give.
